I think I'm quite ready for another adventure
Happy 2025! I am so excited for this new year and all the experiences that await us. As Bilbo Baggins says, “I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.”
Many of you know about my love (or obsession!) with The Lord of the Rings. It’s been my favorite book and movie since I was 12 years old. If you ask me why I love it so much, this image would accurately describe the answer you'd get. 🙂

There’s so much beauty in J.R.R. Tolkien's writings. His unmatched world-building draws you into a realm of magic, cultures, languages, and heroes that feel real and alive. But beyond the adventure, there are powerful lessons woven throughout the story. It’s not just about good versus evil—it’s about growth, courage, and the choices we make. Here are just a few examples:
Leaving the Comfort Zone
Bilbo, Frodo, Sam, Merry, and Pippin are hobbits who cherish their peaceful routines—gardening, eating, and visiting neighbors. Hobbits don’t seek adventure. But these five step out of their comfort zones to save the world. Their bravery shows us that real growth happens when we leave the familiar behind. (Though, let’s be honest—a hobbit’s life is very appealing!)
Unlikely Friendships
Legolas the elf and Gimli the dwarf come from groups that have long been enemies. Yet, through their shared quest, they form an unshakable friendship. They prove that even the most unlikely of people can find common ground and become lifelong friends.
A Leader’s Strength
Aragorn is a king in hiding, yet his actions define him long before he claims his throne. He faces temptation, battles evil, and values every person he meets. His balance of strength and gentleness shows what it means to lead with both honor and humility.
Sacrifice and Faith
Gandalf, the wise wizard, bears the weight of the world. He sacrifices himself for the greater good, only to return stronger, ready to fight alongside his friends. His journey reminds us of the power of faith and the strength found in perseverance.
These characters inspire me because they consistently choose what is right over what is easy. They embrace hardship, push through fear, and become better for it. Their moral courage is something I deeply admire, and as I step into 2025, I find myself wanting to embody their qualities:
To live simply and peacefully like a hobbit, while also being brave enough to step out of my comfort zone when pursuing new goals.
To build and strengthen relationships like Legolas and Gimli, even when differences seem to stand in the way.
To lead with the humility and strength of Aragorn, inspiring others while staying grounded.
To live intentionally like Gandalf, remembering his wise words: “All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us.”
Moral of the Story: If you haven’t set your intentions or goals for 2025, let The Lord of the Rings guide you. Here are four areas to reflect on:
Where do you need to step out of your comfort zone and grow? Or how can you simplify your life?
Who do you need to strengthen a relationship with? Is there someone you need to forgive?
In what areas of life do you need to show more humility? Where do you need to be stronger?
How can you be a light to others this year?
Here’s to a year of growth, courage, and intentional living. Let’s make it an adventure worth remembering.

PS: Every year for Christmas and my birthday I get a new sword or weapon from The Lord of the Rings. My collection is growing and I absolutely love it. Check out my new Uruk-hai blade!
