Making Dreams Come True
Do you ever wait until the last minute to buy tickets, only to find they're either too expensive or sold out?
This totally happened to me last week. I have been wanting to attend TEDx SLC for months now. So when they opened registration, I really don't know why I didn't buy my seat immediately.
Life got busy—work, personal things—and I completely forgot about the tickets until the day before the event. Panic set in. I rushed to buy one online, only to find they were sold out. My heart sank. I was frustrated with myself for waiting too long, for missing the chance to be there.
But I was determined. Why? Because being a TEDx speaker has been a dream of mine for the last few years. I can already picture it—standing on that iconic red dot, sharing my story, and hopefully inspiring others. This year, I wanted to attend to learn from other speakers and soak in the atmosphere. I also wanted to visualize myself on that stage, living out one of my biggest dreams.
So, I wasn’t about to let a sold-out event stop me. I ditched the website and called the ticket office directly, hoping for a miracle. And then, something incredible happened. The person on the other end told me they had one side-chair seat available that wasn’t listed online. What?! How did that happen? I still don’t know. Maybe I manifested it. Maybe it was a stroke of luck. Maybe an answer to prayer. Whatever it was, I had my ticket.
Even better, I got to take my little brother with me. We had an amazing time, listening to incredible speakers and absorbing so much inspiration. For me, it was also about experiencing the show, seeing how it all came together, and envisioning my own future on that stage.

Next year, I’m going to apply. Out of hundreds of applications, they only select 10 speakers. I have a lot of work ahead of me, but I won’t give up. One day, I will be on that stage, sharing my story, inspiring others—someway, somehow.
Moral of the Story: Making dreams come true takes action and work. Sometimes things don’t happen the way we expect, but when we put our vision out into the world and follow it with real effort, amazing things can happen. I will work hard and tirelessly to accomplish this big dream of mine. I don’t know how everything will turn out, but I do know this: I’m going to try, and I won’t give up. So, you don't give up either!
